Well, we got up to above freezing for the first time in an awful long while today, so I did my first real ride on my new bike, nerdy helmet & all. I did just over 6 mostly flat miles in about 35 mins, which I can only assume is pretty sucky. (What can I say, I'm rediculously out of shape.) On a positive note, some other guy on a bike was also out and waved to me, so I guess i'm part of the club now.
Anyway, it hurt(s), but was also really fun, though I'm looking to not having to wear so many layers of clothes in the coming months. Oh, and I had my first embarassing fall in front of some dude in a car who consequentally laughed at me. I was trying to clip in (my shoes to the pedals) at a stop sign when it happened. It felt very slow-motion. From what the superWeb says, I guess this has happened to lots of people, but it was still sort of sucky. I laughed it off, though... what do you do? In related news, apparently we're supposed to get a dump of many inches of snow this Sunday/Monday, so I guess I won't be able to practice not making an ass of myself until next weekend when it looks like we might hit 34 or 35 again. Hopefully my wimpy girl-legs will have recovered by then.*
Anyway, I think that's all I have for now. Hopefully some good work-related news in the next couple months; we'll see...
*I am not insinuating that girl legs are wimpy, rather I'm saying that my legs are wimpy and also happen to be shaped like rather glorious female legs, albeit with much gross hair and knobby knees.
